Committee Descriptions

Band Meals – Arranges with companies for the food, collects money from students, and distributes the meals on school days before events so students don’t have to leave campus to eat.

Band Trip – Coordinates all necessary arrangements for the Band’s trips.  This includes competitions.

Banquet – Organizes and coordinates the end-of-year dinner for band students and parents, which recognizes seniors.

Chaperones – Accompany the band on all football games, contests, and trips in buses.

Concessions (NISD) – Work at NISD sporting events concession stands throughout the year as part of the Northside Booster Association (NBA).  We do not work Taft games.  This is a major fundraising activity.

Concessions (UIL @ Taft) – Boosters sell concessions at the UIL Concert and sight-reading competition when held at Taft High School in April.  Food donations are solicited.  Volunteer to help set up, cook, sell and clean up.

Hospitality – Arranges for refreshments at meetings and other functions.  Sends hospitality acknowledgements.  Hosts receptions at some concerts.

Membership – Recruits members at $5 per person.  Maintains committee volunteer lists.  Provides membership cards.

Mentors – Matches veteran band parents with new ones.  Advises and guides members on questions/issues/concerns.

Props – Coordinates with Band Directors on providing visuals needed for shows.

Publicity – Publishes Booster newsletter, contacts media, advertises band events, and maintains web site.

Roadies – Provides assistance in moving large instruments and equipment to and from band events.

Rummage Sale – Solicits, gathers, and collects donated items to be sold at Spring BBQ.

Spaghetti Dinner –Organizes ticket sales, set-up, decorating, serving and clean-up for fall event.  Solicits donations of food and items for door prizes.

Spirit Items – Orders and promotes spirit items at Taft events such as Booster meetings, football games, open houses, etc., or anytime the opportunity presents itself.

Spring BBQ – Assists in food preparation, selling food, cleaning up, and soliciting donations for food items, etc.

Student Fundraising – Assists in researching products to be sold as fundraisers.  Collects, organizes, receives and distributes each order to student.

Telephone – Calls other Booster members with important information or solicitation (to serve as volunteer or provide needed items) for band activities.

TMEA Convention – Each February, our Booster Club monitors the doors at the Texas Music Educators Association’s annual Convention held at the Convention Center.

Uniforms – Fits the band into marching uniforms and concert attire during the appropriate season.  Distributes and collects the uniforms before and after each football game, contests, parades, etc.
