INTRODUCING our 2019 Field production, "carmen"

Carmen is based on the PBS kids show and the 1996 video game, "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?" Featuring music from Bizet's Carmen Suites, selections from the James Bond series, The Incredibles, and Mission Impossible, we will answer the question, can we find Carmen Sandiego?

SUMMER BAND WEEK 4 - 8/19/19 - 8/21/19 - PM Band rehearsals, Teacher In-service, Friends and Family Night, and Convocation Performances.

Wow! 3 weeks of learning, over 120 hours of student work has come to a close as we transition into the regular school schedule, with our first football game less than two weeks away! This week, teachers across NISD go back to work from 8-4 pm (including band directors), so our rehearsals will occur only Mon-Wed from 5-8 PM. This is a hot time of day, so student need to have come fed and hydrated prior to rehearsal. This time of rehearsal will most closely resemble what after school rehearsals will feel like. Since there aren't rehearsals during the day time, please use this week for all final appointments prior to the school year beginning.

The band is still in need of a CDL driver for the competitive season. If you have your CDL or have a family member who would love to join the band family- we are in need! Please see www.taftraiderband.org/cdl-drivers for more information or email me at gregory.mills@nisd.net.

Following Monday's rehearsal please have students stop by the uniform room to pick up ordered shoes, gloves, and other apparel. Although 100% of orders have not yet arrived, we would like to distribute what has arrived so far. Students- please check the uniform room following our Monday dismissal to see if your shoes have come in.

Finally, Friends and Family Night is this Wednesday evening. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy watching the students rehearsing the show starting at 7 PM, and we will start a performance for the community starting at 7:30 PM. Boosters will be selling hot dog and hamburger plates with chips and a drink for $5 so come hungry, sup and support the students! Students are welcome to eat following the rehearsal as well!

7:30 PM - Friends and Family Night Presentation Begins - $5 Food plates available for all, come hungry!

8:00 PM - Dismissal!

FRIDAY - No Rehearsal

***STUDENTS: Make sure you are bringing all your materials to each day of summer band. Communicate clearly and stay on top of your pass offs so you have a great start to the year! Check the uniform room following Monday's rehearsal to see if your shoes and gloves have arrived. School is around the corner, so make sure you have all the supplies you need to be successful for another great school year!
