Taft Raider Band 2026 Drum Major Auditions
Hello, and thank you for your interest in applying to be a Taft HS Drum Major for the 2026-2027 school year. The position of drum major is seen as being the most prestigious student leadership in the band. These students represent the band program, their school, and their staff at ALL times- both on and off the field. Training sessions will be held April 13-17 in the Taft HS Band Hall. Auditions themselves will occur on Thursday, April 23 both before school and after school. Results will be announced at the conclusion of all auditions to applicants only.
Your audition will consist of the following:
Complete the "Intent to Audition" form due by April 5, at 6 PM. No late entries will be accepted.
Completed the drum major binder which includes the leaders contract, application essay questions, and handbook delivered to the directors no later than 5:00 PM on FRIDAY, APRIL 17th.
Attendance with a parent at the mandatory drum major audition info meeting on APRIL 7th at 7:45 PM at the Taft HS Band Hall immediately following the general booster meeting.
Submission of teacher evaluations via google docs from all of your non-band teachers, completed by teachers no later than APRIL 17th at 5 PM.
Conducting 2/4, 3/4, and 4/4 patterns and prepared music.
Attendance at all of the Drum Major Training sessions, which will be from 7:00-8:30 AM April 13-17 in the Taft Band Hall.
Formal interview with the band staff curing your audition.
Auditions themselves will be scheduled for THURSDAY, APRIL 23.
